Anchorage man leads troopers on car chase
A high speed car chase all the way from Anchorage to the Cantwell area came to a safe end when troopers stopped and arrested 47-year old George Greene of Anchorage.
A high speed car chase all the way from Anchorage to the Cantwell area came to a safe end when troopers stopped and arrested 47-year old George Greene of Anchorage.Greene eluded Anchorage Police when they tried to stop him near Birchwood. Driving in a white Cadillac Escalade northbound on Glenn Highway, Greene raced all the way to Wasilla, where troopers and Wasilla police tried to stop him. Troopers say he continued to elude troopers at extremely high rates of speed for nearly 35 miles. Near Willow, the troopers stopped the pursuit and the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol tried to stop Greene near mile 82. Again Greene managed to escape.
The highway patrol and Alaska Wildlife Troopers finally stopped Greene with a vehicle immobilization device near mile 187 of the Parks Highway close to Cantwell. Greene was arrested for eluding and driving under the influence. He was transported to the Mat-Su pretrial facility where he is held on $25,000 cash only bail. According the court records, Greene has a long list of prior convictions involving theft, misconduct involving controlled substances and parole violations.
