PDF: TCC_Map of Areas of Interest
Michelle Johnson, from Alaska Earth Sciences, has provided a Map of the general areas of interest that will be visited by a field crew with helicopter support. It is south of the Denali Highway, and Northeast of Talkeetna. The map can be viewed on KTNA’s website. The boundaries sketched on the map are general, and Alaska Earth Sciences may expand their survey to the surrounding state areas. Johnson says the map is provided as a courtesy for members of the community who may be using the area.
The Anchorage-based company has been tapped by the Australia-based mining company Min-Metals Group to carry out the exploration of undeveloped resources in Central Alaska. In May, the company flew airborne surveys over two sections of state lands near Stephen Lakes, northwest of Talkeetna and south of the Denali Highway near the Susitna River. The work will be done by a team supported by helicopter, to collect soils for analysis in their search for interesting minerals like zinc and chromium.
