The Mat Su Borough Assembly passed an ordinance Tuesday evening that will allow Su Valley Junior and Senior High to finally order the furniture needed to supply the new school.

The ordinance allows for half a million dollars in insurance money to be allocated specifically to Su Valley High School for new furniture to replace items burned in the fire.

According to the Borough finance department, the agreement means the school district can go forward with furniture orders.

The insurance company and the Borough have yet to come to a complete agreement on the settlement amount, although much progress has been made. Borough Manager John Duffy said he hopes that the insurance matter is completely settled this week. The disagreement over the insurance amount has been on going since the school burned in June 2007.
