The 31st annual Talkeetna Bachelor’s Auction had another full house when more than 240 ladies packed in to the Sheldon Arts hangar last weekend. Forty of Alaska’s finest eligible bachelors were auctioned off raised over nine thousand dollars for charity, with over half the proceeds to benefit Women and Children in Crisis. Nick Condon fetched the highest price, selling for $2,100.
Pam Rannalls and DX Russell were presented with lifetime memberships to the Talkeetna Bachelor’s Society for their many years of effort in organizing the event.
There were more contestants than ever before at the Wilderness Women’s Competition, with 40 of Alaska’s toughest girls competing for the 2011 Wilderness Woman’s title. That honor went to Emily Bernhart of Fairbanks, who clinched the competition with superior sandwich-making and beer delivery skills.
