Bachelor's Society Shares the Love

The Talkeetna Bachelors Society has selected local service organizations as recipients of its 2011

charitable contributions. 13 organizations were awarded grants that totaled a little over half the total proceeds from the 2011 Bachelor’s Auction, about $4 thousand, nine hundred dollars. Another $4 thousand, five hundred dollars were transferred to the Jessica Stevens fund for Women and Children in Crisis.

Among the local service organizations to receive checks were the Upper Susitna Food Bank, which was awarded $500, Su-Valley Junior/Senior High’s Moose Club was awarded $500, Trapper Creek Elementary received $300 towards the purchase of a defibrillator. Talkeetna Elementary received $400 for its Healthy Snacks program, KTNA received $250 for studio equipment, Upper Susitna Senior Center received $500 for Meals on Wheels. The Friends of the Talkeetna Library received $300, Sunshine Transit was awarded $500 for operating expenses, Talkeetna Taxi was given $200 for operating expenses, The Free Box received $300, Sunshine Childcare received $350. Greenlight Circus was awarded $400, and $400 was awarded to Single Mothers To Be, a support group in Anchorage.
