Bail set for man charged with assault on Talkeetna woman

A man charged with assault in the beating of a Talkeetna woman is still held at the Mat-Su pretrial facility. Forty-five year old Timothy Myers has been charged for recklessly injuring a person, criminal mischief for damaging property, a charge of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance.

In a court hearing, Palmer judge John Wolfe set the conditions for bail at $2,500 and a court-approved third party custodian. As of Friday, Myers has not posted bail and is still in custody. A charge of refusing to take an alcohol test was dropped.

A trial call is scheduled for January 6, 2011.

Myers was arrested in the early morning hours on November 1 after a 911 call reported the beating. The woman, whose name has not been released, managed to get away from her assailant and ran to a nearby friend’s house to call for help. Troopers responded and found Myers passed out in the vehicle still in the middle of the road at mile 13.5. According to troopers, Myers and his companion were driving south on the Spur road after having been to a Talkeetna bar when the altercation began. Myers was drunk when driving the car. Trooper Shayne Calt said that the victim was severely injured with multiple cuts and bruises on her body and was taken to a hospital.
