The 20 year old man involved in the head on collision near Big Lake last September has been charged with manslaughter and assault.
September 20, Troopers responded to a collision involving 2 vehicles. The accident closed the Parks Highway for several hours.
A 15 year old girl was driving an SUV with 4 passengers in her vehicle. She collided head on with a vehicle driven by 19 year Donna Gallant of Big Lake. Gallant, who was pregnant at the time, lost her baby due to injuries she received. A 16 year old girl riding in the back of the SUV died later from her injuries.
A grand jury found that 20-year-old Kyle Bissonette, of Big Lake, was riding drunk in the front passenger seat and caused that accident by grabbing the wheel from the 15 year old driving the SUV. The vehicle swerved into the other lane and collided head on with Gallant’s vehicle. Seven people were seriously injured in the accident.
Bissonette was charged with two counts of manslaughter, 4 counts of second degree assault and one count of driving under the influence. He was also charged as a minor consuming alcohol.
