The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is reviewing proposed changes to the Board of Games regulations and guidelines for a variety of management and harvesting policies. The Board will meet the week of January 13th to discuss the proposed changes and adopt approved measures. Public written commentary is open until December 30th, and in-person comments will be heard at January’s meeting.

The proposed changes include Proposals 227 and 229, which would institute wolf predator control measures in order to boost moose populations and harvest numbers in game unit 20c which runs north from the boundary of Denali National Park. Unit 20c would also see liberalize taking of grizzly and black bears by various means under Proposals 230 through 232.

Other changes under consideration include Proposal 19, which would close hunting of certain species in Arctic Region units to out-of-state hunters.

All the proposed changes to Hunting regulations are available at the Alaska Department of Fish and Game website, www.adfg.alaska.gov.
