Candidate packets for Mat-Su Borough offices up for election this November are now available, and candidate registration begins on Monday.
Mat-Su voters will choose three members of the borough assembly, two school board members, and a new mayor. Current Borough Mayor Vern Halter has completed two terms in the office, so is not eligible to run again this year.
One of the three assembly seats up for election is District 7, which includes the Northern Susitna Valley. That seat is currently held by Tam Boeve, who said after a borough budget meeting at Su Valley Junior/Senior High School this spring that she intended to run for re-election to her assembly seat.
District 7’s school board seat, currently held by Jeff Taylor, is not up for election this year.
The candidate filing period is from August 16th to August 27th. More information about this year’s borough election can be found at matsugov.us/elections.
