The Mat Su Borough Assembly went into two different executive sessions last week during their regularly scheduled Assembly meeting.
Discussion of the potential Borough manager candidates was on the agenda for executive session. No final decision was announced at the meeting, but Borough public information officer Patty Sullivan says she would expect an announcement or decision by the Assembly soon. The Assembly meets in a special session tonight to discuss the selection.
At that meeting, Assembly changed the make up of the Mayor’s Blue Ribbon Sportsman’s Committee. It now includes more ‘at-large’ seats. Assemblyman Jim Colver asked about a name change to include sports – men and women – on the committee. The committee now includes one sport fishing representative, one hunting representative and 4 at large representatives as well as a Borough Assembly representative. Colver sponsored the ordinance.
The Assembly amended their long list of priorities for the Mat Su Borough to go to the state legislature including road improvements, the Port MacKenzie rail extension, funding of the Hatcher Pass Nordic Ski Area, funding of the South Denali Visitors Center and funding of gateway tourism infrastructure projects.
