Borough meets with a full agenda

The Mat Su Borough Assembly has a long list of resolutions on their plate to consider at their regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow evening (tues).

A resolution supporting the Susitna Hydroelectric Project was introduced by Assemblyman Ron Arvin and will be on the table.

A resolution introduced by Assemblyman Vern Halter supports funding a separated pathway from Willow to Kashwitna as well as the Talkeetna Spur Road pedestrian improvement project. The project that includes a pathway is now on the state’s STIP – Surface Transportation Improvement Program list.

A resolution that will approve a grant of $100,000 to fund construction of Nordic ski trails in the Talkeetna Lakes Park will be considered.  That same resolution includes a $180,000 to fund the Mat Su Ski Club to build ski trails in Hatcher Pass.

The Assembly will also consider a resolution that supports the adoption of Senate Bill 79, which in turn, supports building the Knik Arm Bridge by appropriating $150 million to the Knik Arm crossing fund.

Other items on the agenda include confirmation of members on boards and commissions.  Jim Skinner of Caswell Lakes is set to be accepted on the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board, Herman Thompson is set to be confirmed on the Health and Human Services Board and Kevin Foster is set to be confirmed on the Chase Trail Service Area Board.  Confirmation takes place unless there are any objections to the nominee.
