The Mat-Su Borough’s second round of CARES Act grants has begun, and the first round of grants is being disbursed according to the borough’s grant website. In total, about three-quarters of a million dollars has been paid out as of Wednesday.
In total, the borough is processing 429 grant applications. As of Wednesday morning, just under a hundred grants have been paid out to businesses in the Mat-Su. Awarded amounts range from one thousand to ten thousand dollars. Eighty-three additional grants have been approved, but payment has not been made, yet. More than half of the grants that have been paid out have been for the maximum amount of $10,000.
Thus far, about one hundred fifty grants have been denied, and an additional thirty-seven are still waiting for review. The borough has set up a dashboard to track CARES Act grant information, including which businesses have received funds.
On Tuesday, the borough opened its second round of grant applications. Businesses and nonprofits wishing to apply need to provide general COVID-19 related expenses, a W-9, a driver’s license, and gross revenue from 2019.
In addition to business grants, the borough plans to launch a $100 individual grant program in the near future. Valley residents can sign up for email notifications for when that program launches on the Mat-Su Borough CARES Act website.
