The Mat Su Borough has released their revised draft of the Five Year Timber Harvest Schedule for public comment.
The first draft had errors that have been corrected. The first schedule did not contain timber within operable timber areas as required by the Borough’s Natural Resource Management Units Plan.
Richard Leo, member of the Trapper Creek Community Council says that the council will need to review the new maps in order to comment. The council wrote a letter regarding the original, erroneous schedule. Their letter was supported by the Talkeetna Community Council.
The Trapper Creek Council has little time to discuss the new maps and schedule and needs to get their comments in by the end of the month.
The second notices were mailed on August 1st and comments need to be received by August 31st
Listeners can go to the links on ktna.org or go to the Borough website in order to view the schedule and revised maps. Residents can also visit the Borough offices in Palmer to view the maps in person.
