Borough's NRMU plan introduced to Assembly

The Mat-Su Borough’s draft Natural Resource Management Units plan is still out for public comment. A public hearing is scheduled for September 21^st at the regularly scheduled Borough Assembly meeting.

The Natural Resource Management Units plan went through a long process to get to its final step next Thursday.  The revised plan went to the Parks, Recreation and Trails Advisory Board in April. From there it went to the Real Property Asset Management Board and was approved.  The Planning Commission heard the plan and public comments and approved in July.

The Planning Commission has recommended that the Assembly pass the plan.

The plan includes 21 sections of Borough land, totaling 143,000 acres plus the Fish Creek area.  Originally the plan was called Forest Management Units plan, but now the plan includes more than just forestry use.  It includes public recreation and wetlands and will be managed for multi-purposes.

Residents still have a chance to comment on the plan next Tuesday at the public hearing if there is any section of the plan they disagree with.  The plan in its entirety can be found on the Mat su Borough website under the community development’s asset management plans.
