The annual hustle and bustle to get ready for the summer tourism season started throughout Talkeetna. A noticeable change is underway at Café Michele. The restaurant and property on the corner of East Second Street and the Talkeetna Spur Road changed ownership to local business owners Gerry and Kathleen Sousa. Their plans are to continue the restaurant under the name of “Kahiltna Bistro”. The new owners are leveling the parking lot and they plan to build a new deck. The small cabin on the corner of the property will remain in place.
In addition, Sousa plans to operate Talkeetna Fishing Guides and Sundog Kennel tour from there while their current downtown offices on Main Street remain open.
The new bistro is now hiring employees and it is slated to open in early June.
