KTNA hosts our annual Volunteer Picnic/BBQ on Wednesday, July 2nd from 5 until 8pm. We will have hamburgers & hot dogs, veggie shish-kabobs, homemade side dishes, drinks and desserts. Volunteers meet for a group picture at 6:45pm. All are welcome to stop by to enjoy some food and good company. Denali Arts Council is hosting a Jazz Workshop with Maestro Rocco John Iacovone at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. This is an opportunity for anyone who loves playing music to learn to listen, respond, and collaborate with other jazz players. This two week workshop will meet June 23, 24, 26, 30, July 2 and 3, from 5-7pm. There will be a performance on Saturday, July 5 at 7:00pm. Registration is available on denaliartscouncil.org. After Lunch on the Lawn, there will be another bird from the Wildbirds group beginning at 12:45. 5 events,The Alaska Division of Forestry has a burn permit suspension in effect for the Mat-Su Borough. A burn permit suspension means no burning of burn barrels, debris piles, or lawn burns. Campfires smaller than 3ft in diameter for the purpose of warming, cooking, or signaling are still allowed. Adequate clearance away from combustibles and attendance until cold to the touch are still required for campfires. The Talkeetna Public Library's Summer Reading Program begins at 1pm today (Thursday). This week, Geologist Greg will be showing his new rock polisher and also talking about volcanoes. All are welcome to come and blow up a small volcano. The final day of the program is next week on August 7th. The Willow Public Library Summer Reading Program, Level Up at Your Library, is held every Thursday in July. The program is 12:30-1:30 pm with lunch provided from 1:00-1:30 pm.
