The new house district that includes the Northern Valley is District 30. Three Republicans and one Democrat have registered for the primary later this summer. Kevin McCabe of Big Lake is the House incumbent, though the district he represented last session did not include the Northern Valley. Two Willow Republicans have also filed to run, Joe Griffin and Doyle Holmes. The lone Democrat in the race is Joy Mindiola of Wasilla.
Representative David Eastman is running for re-election, but the current map puts his residence in District 27.
Two candidates, both Republicans, have filed for Senate Seat O. Incumbent Mike Shower will be running for re-election. His challenger is Doug Massie. Both candidates live in Wasilla.
