Trapper Creek and Susitna Community Councils announced their Community Assistance Program fund awards. The recipients included a variety of organizations that provide services directly to the community.
The Trapper Creek Community Services Association, or TCCSA, received $11,000 from the Trapper Creek Community Council. Amanda Garland, Secretary of the TCCSA, says that the funds will be used for maintenance and operations of the Trapper Creek Park, community center, cemetery, and free box.
The Upper Susitna Food Pantry received $789 from Trapper Creek and $3,500 from the Susitna Community Councils. LouAnne Carroll-Tysdal, Executive Director of the pantry, says the money will go directly toward purchasing food.
The Trapper Creek Community Council also supported the Trapper Creek Volunteer Fire Department with CAP funds. The Susitna Community Council provided additional support to the Willow Food Pantry, Upper Susitna Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, and Sunshine Transit.
The Community Assistance Program is a Mat-Su Borough grant program that provides funding each year to unincorporated communities through the councils. The councils provide the funds to non-profit organizations that will use the money to directly benefit the community.
