Chamber of Commerce elects officers
Over 25 members of the area’s business community gathered at Twister Creek Restaurant last Thursday night for the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce’s November General Membership Meeting.
Over 25 members of the area’s business community gathered at Twister Creek Restaurant last Thursday night for the Talkeetna Chamber of Commerce’s November General Membership Meeting.
The membership elected officers and the new president is current president, Trisha Costello. Suzy Kellard is Vice President, Geri Denkewalter is secretary and Kathy Stoltz was voted to the treasurer position.
Costello announced changes to future general membership meetings, which are held every third Thursday of the month at rotating Chamber venues. The meetings will now focus on featured speakers, member news and networking. Chamber members wishing to become more involved in decision-making discussions were encouraged to be active on Chamber committees.
Jim Kloss of Whole Wheat Radio who gave a presentation about the social media sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, and their emergence into the world of personal as well as business communication and marketing. He also identified the need for a comprehensive, all-inclusive, Talkeetna community calendar.
In other business news, Sandra Loomis of Talkeenta Air Taxi was invited to sit on the Marketing Committee of the Alaska Travel Industry Association; Costello reminded everyone in the room that Winterfest is fast approaching. She said the Taste of Talkeetna is coming in a reinvented, self-guided format, and will take place December 4th.
The Chamber General Membership meets again December 10th.
