Talkeetna Emergency Services transported a Chase man to the hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm on Wednesday night.
Fire and rescue captain Tim Morgan said that Talkeetna EMS was notified of an accidental discharge of a fire arm and that a transport was needed. Alaska Railroad personnel gave the wounded man a ride by way of their highcar from the railroad mile post 239 to the Talkeetna village park, where the ambulance picked him up for the transport to Willow. A LifeMed helicopter took the man from there to an Anchorage hospital. Morgan said the injury was serious but not life threatening. Troopers ruled out foul play.
Update on this story – Jim James lost his hand in this incident. He and his family thank all the people who helped him to the hospital and all the well wishers. Also thanks to everyone for respecting their privacy as he recovers.
