Collision at milepost 147 sends 3 to hospital
A two-passenger vehicle crash Sunday morning in Denali State Park sent 3 people to the hospital.
A two-passenger vehicle crash Sunday morning in Denali State Park sent 3 people to the hospital. Trapper Creek Ambulance, Talkeetna Rescue and Willow ambulance all responded to the two car collision at milepost 147 on the Parks Highway early Sunday morning.
Troopers report that a southbound vehicle driven by 24 year old Leon Nekeeta ,from Pilot Point ,crossed the center lane and collided head on with an SUV driven by 20 year old Thomas Sayen of Wasilla. His passenger was Erika Perry, 19, also of Wasilla.
Fire Chief Ken Farina reported that ambulance crews wanted Life Guard to respond, but the weather conditions were so poor, the helicopter was not able to respond safely. The three individuals were transported to the hospital via ambulance. All were in critical condition. One is at Providence and the other two were taken to Mat Su Regional.
Both vehicles were totaled in the accident and have been impounded. The Bureau of Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate.
