Conditions on the Deneki Bridge in Willow remained largely unchanged as of Sunday evening, according to a statement from the Mat-Su Borough.

On Saturday, operations surrounding the flooding in the area were transferred from the Department of Emergency Services to the Department of Operations and Maintenance.  Outside of an emergency, there will be no further emergency services presence in the area.

On Sunday, borough personnel removed ice from the roadway, and assisted area residents in reaching the bridge.  Deneki Road remains officially closed, with water between one and two feet deep.  The borough says any crossing of the bridge is at the driver’s own risk, and that the bridge is impassible to anything smaller than large four-wheel-drive trucks and heavy equipment.

Questions about the road can be directed to the borough’s road hotline at 907-861-7755.
