Several reports of people being bitten by dogs in downtown Talkeetna has prompted Animal Control to post signs around town reminding people to keep their dogs on a leash.
The signs remind businesses, the public at large, and specifically dog owners that loose dogs running in the street are a violation of borough code. Should Animal Control impound the dogs, it could mean a hundred-dollar fine and a trip to Palmer to retrieve the dog.
Last week Alaska Wildlife Troopers recovered a day-old moose calf that had been separated from its mother after being chased and injured by loose dogs.
