The Mat-Su Borough Assembly has selected Dr. Barbara Doty to fill the vacant District 6 Assembly seat.
On Friday, borough spokeswoman Patty Sullivan shared a memo from Borough Manager John Moosey announcing the selection. Moosey says the Assembly interviewed four candidates for the seat on Thursday evening and selected Doty unanimously.
In her application for the Assembly seat, Doty says she is an independent moderate. She holds an M.D. from the University of Washington, and received her Alaska medical license in 1985. Doty says she has owned multiple businesses within the borough, both in and out of the medical field. Dr. Barbara Doty lives in the Wolf Lake area of Wasilla and operates her family medicine practice in Palmer.
Doty was sworn in as the District 6 Assembly Member at the end of Thursday’s special meeting, and will take her seat at the next regular meeting on February 17th.
