Durham, Teamsters reach tentative contract agreement

A tentative agreement has been reached that could end the strike by bus drivers and attendants in the Mat-Su.

On Thursday evening, both Durham School Services and Teamsters Local 959 announced that a tentative contract agreement has been reached based on a new round of negotiations. The union plans to hold a meeting over the weekend for members to vote on whether to accept the negotiated deal. Thursday’s negotiations came after a two-week break in talks between Durham and Teamsters Local 959.

School bus workers in much of the Mat-Su have been on strike since the end of January, meaning bus service in much of the Valley has not been running. Day-to-day service in the Northern Susitna Valley has continued, as it is provided by a different contractor, Bunker and Bunker. Some extra-curricular and athletics transportation in the Upper Valley has been impacted by the strike.
