Tomorrow is Election Day. Voters in the Northern Susitna Valley will be able to weigh in on who represents them in both chambers of the Alaska Legislature.
In House District 10, incumbent David Eastman has two challengers, Democrat Patricia Faye-Brazel and fellow Republican Doyle Holmes.
In the race for Senate Seat E, Republican Mike Shower, who was appointed earlier this year, is running against Democratic challenger Su Kay.
In addition to the local races, two statewide offices are up for a vote. Republican Mike Dunleavy is running against Democrat Mark Begich for the governor’s mansion. Alaska’s sole seat in the U.S. House of Representatives is also up for election, with incumbent Republican Don Young running against independent challenger Alyse Galvin.
Also on the ballot is Proposition 1, which would impose new regulatory requirements for development in areas containing salmon streams.
There are multiple polling places for the Northern Susitna Valley’s precincts. In Willow and Talkeetna, voting will happen at the local library. In Sunshine, the polling place is the Upper Susitna Senior Center. Trapper Creek’s polling place is the elementary school.
Polls open at 7:00 am tomorrow, and close at 8:00 pm.
As part of our campaign coverage, KTNA interviewed multiple candidates. A post linking to those interviews is at KTNA.org.
