Being prepared for the next big earthquake or just being safe in the backcountry is the goal for this Saturday’s Emergency Preparedness Expo.
Mat-Su Borough Emergency Manager Casey Cook says the Expo is a good way to get the community together. Cook says the hands-on demonstrations, classes, and visits with vendors will help make the community more resilient.
The event is free and open to all ages. And there will be food trucks available. The first 200 people through the door will get a free bag of safety items. Local Community Emergency Response Teams, or CERTs, will be there. As will the Red Cross, 907 Safe Riders, local fire departments, and many others.
Scheduled classes will go on throughout the event covering topics like how to administer Naloxone, backyard medicine basics, and preparing for earthquakes.
The event runs Saturday, September 28th from 10am to 3pm at the Menard Sports Center, rain or shine.
