Su Dog 300 mile Sled Dog Race – Volunteers needed

February 21, 2026

The Su Dog 300 mile Sled Dog Race is coming back for 2026 and takes place February 21st – 24th. The 300 mile race starts in Willow and does a large loop around the upper Susitna Valley connecting all the communities, this year including the brand new Talkeetna River checkpoint. On day 2 of the race, mushers will travel in and out via the Talkeetna river and will stopover on private property near the Swiss Alaska Inn. The race will *not* enter downtown or neighborhoods, use any roadways, or affect traffic patterns. The Su Dog 300 is very excited to include Talkeetna in the race route as it’s been years since a dog race has come to town.

The Su Dog 300 would like to extend an invitation to anyone interested in volunteering in the race to get involved and join in celebrating mushing the Upper Susitna Valley. No experience necessary, family friendly, and we’re happy to accommodate any mobility/accessibility needs. The Su Dog has a strong emphasis on community involvement and would love to see you join in the celebration. You can apply to volunteer and learn more at sudog300.org.
