On Wednesday, Ray Kingsbury of Fairbanks was arrested near Mile 163 of the Parks Highway. Alaska State Troopers responded after reports that Kingsbury was passing and speeding in a construction zone, then allegedly ran his vehicle off the road and jumped out. State Trooper spokeswoman Megan Peters says that other people in the construction zone also heard “a series of loud ‘pops,'” that may have been gunfire. Troopers did not observe the alleged gunfire. It is unknown whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the incident, and Megan Peters says the Troopers are not speculating as to what caused Kingsbury’s behavior.
Kingsbury was charged with reckless driving, misconduct involving weapons, reckless endangerment and assault.
