A house fire near Mile 62 of the Parks Highway claimed the life of an unidentified person early Monday morning. According to Dennis Brodigan, Director of Emergency Services for the Mat-Su Borough, a neighbor called 911 at 3:02 am to report the blaze. Units responded from Talkeetna, Willow, Houston, Big Lake, Meadow Lakes, and the core area of the Borough. Two structures were burning, and firefighters worked to keep two 300 gallon diesel tanks from igniting as well. A number of animals, including multiple dogs and a goat, escaped the fire.
The fire marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire, and the name of the deceased has not been released.
