Fire update for July 10th with Incident Commander Bob Shindelar

7/10 5:30 p.m.: The evacuation levels in the areas of the Montana Creek and Malaspina Fires have been changed – all zones are now set at a Level 1 – Ready with the exception of one house in the Malaspina fire which is continuing to stay at a Level 3 – Go.

This morning, KTNA General Manager Corinne Smith spoke with incident commander Bon Shindelar and public information officer Julie Knobel about the latest information on the Montana Creek and Malaspina Fires.

Both fires are now thirty percent contained. The Montana Creek Fire is estimated at 367 acres, and the Malaspina Fire is estimated at 80 acres. There are more than 150 personnel working the fires. The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
