From Kathleen -Thanks for your interest in local reports of Geminid Meteors. This is just for fun, so a high level of accuracy is not expected. And unfortunately these clouds and snowflakes mean that Sunday night was your last chance to see these shooting stars rather than, as I had hoped, the first of several nights. If you wish to report your Saturday or Sunday observations, please include the following information:
Date(s), start and stop times of your observing periods, number of Gemini’s (streaks of light radiating out from a place near the bright stars of Gemini) you saw, number of “other” meteors (shooting stars streaking away from someplace other than Gemini), if you think they may have been Urisids (emanating from near the big dipper) you can list those as Ursids, also tell us how many pairs of eye contributed to your count, and whether or not you had a full big sky view.
I’ll take a look at the reports before writing next week’s Star Date Susitna program. Bummer about these clouds… — Kathleen 12/14/09.
