Halter, Boeve, hold wide fundraising leads in borough races

District 7 Mat-Su Borough Assembly candidate Tam Boeve and incumbent borough mayor Vern Halter hold significant fundraising leads over their opponents.

According to reports submitted to the Alaska Public Offices Commission, Mat-Su Borough Mayor Vern Halter has raised over $13,000 in his re-election bid, including $5,000 of his own money. As of last week, Halter’s campaign still had over $10,000 available to spend. Chalenger Bruce Walden, has raised $225.

In Assembly District 7, which includes the Northern Susitna Valley, three candidates are vying to replace Randall Kowalke. Thus far, Tam Boeve of Willow is the only candidate to report campaign income. According to the latest report filed with APOC, Boeve’s campaign has raised over $7,000. Her opponents, Dan Dees and Walter Kloepfer have not reported any campaign fundraising activity to the state.
