Hunting accident claims the life of a Trapper Creek man

An accidental discharge of a rifle during a hunting trip left a Trapper Creek man dead over the weekend. 26 year old Cody Parry of Trapper Creek was fatally wounded

An accidental discharge of a rifle during a hunting trip left a Trapper Creek man dead over the weekend. 26 year old Cody Parry of Trapper Creek was fatally wounded when a 30-06 rifle being manipulated by Kyle Strong, 29 of Wasilla discharged a round in to Parry’s leg. Strong attempted to provide life saving measures including CPR. The two were on a hunting trip and staying in a cabin owned by Parry’s family around mile 169 of the Parks Highway.
Strong was unable to get Parry to the highway by himself and ran to flag down a passing motorist for assistance. Strong and the motorist were then able to transport Parry by 4-wheeler  to the highway.

Trapper Creek EMS responded and declared Parry deceased. The body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy but foul play is not suspected at this time. Next of kin has been notified
