Rising waters on the Susitna river caused concerns of flood risks on Sunday night in Talkeetna. One resident who lives along the river reported water levels that had come as high as one-foot below the high-water mark from September’s flooding event. The rising waters have been attributed to an Ice Jam on the main channel of the Susitna River south of Talkeetna, which diverted significant amounts of water into the side channels running close to town. Reports of the water receding were reported later Sunday night, and one resident of downtown Talkeetna said that by 9 pm the water looked to have gone down 6 feet from the apparent high-water mark.
