Icy roads on the Parks Highway near Talkeetna played a part in two crashes Thursday morning . There were no injuries, but Troopers remind residents that as winter descends, the roads can become hazardous.
Alaska State Troopers responded to a vehicle off the roadway at a little after 8 a.m. A 56 year old Anchorage man lost control of his Toyota Tacoma truck as he was northbound at milepost 93 of the Parks Highway. The truck slid off the west side of the highway and flipped on its side. Both the man and his passenger were wearing their seatbelts and were not injured. The vehicle was turned upright by a tow truck and was driven from the scene.
Less then half an hour later, Troopers responded to another crash at milepost 95 of the Parks Highway. Troopers report that Pam Rannals, from Talkeetna, was driving her Chevy Silverado southbound when she lost control on the icy road. The vehicle slid off the roadway and came to rest upright. She and her passenger were both wearing seatbelts. The vehicle sustained about four thousand dollars damage and had to be towed from the scene. There were no injuries in the accident.
