Jaye Foucher announces withdrawal from Willow 300, Iditarod

Musher Jaye Foucher has withdrawn from the Willow 300 as well as the 2022 Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race.

Foucher’s team was hit by a truck while on a training run near Mile 75 of the Parks Highway last week.  One dog died as a result of the collision, and three more were injured.

One of Foucher’s dogs, Felicity, was missing for more than two days after the team was struck, but eventually returned home.

A GoFundMe that was set up for Foucher has raised more than $35,000 to pay for short and long-term vet bills.  It’s possible that at least one of the injured dogs will need to go to the Lower 48 for treatment.

In the post announcing her withdrawal from the Iditarod, Foucher says she plans to try again in the future, and a picture posted Wednesday afternoon shows her back on the runners of her sled, once again.
