The Jessica Stevens Community Foundation has reached its fundraising goal for 2011 to qualify for a Rasmuson Challenge Grant. The Foundation had targeted a goal of fifteen-thousand-dollars raised before years-end in order to receive an additional fifteen-thousand dollars from Rasmusson. The Stevens Foundation has met that goal, and Ruth Wood says the Rasmusson funds will either be rolled into the Annual Spring Grant cycle and distributed with other funds, or it might be used as a special granting opportunity in 2012.

The Talkeetna Bachelor’s Society fund, which is administered by the Jessica Stevens Foundation, continues to grow after this year’s 4-thousand, five-hundred dollar influx from the 2011 Bachelor Auction.

Community members from northern Susitna Valley communities have tried to take on the spirit of Jessica Stevens as they established the Foundation named in her memory. Since its founding in 2008, the JSCF advisory board continues to raise funds to create an endowment which can perpetually aid local nonprofit groups in their efforts to build healthy communities in and around Trapper Creek and Talkeetna.

The Jessica Stevens Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Alaska Community Foundation.
