Friday, May 31st is the deadline to register for the Mat-Su Borough’s solid waste landfill coupon. The coupons are valid at the Central Landfill and the Willow, Talkeetna, and Trapper Creek transfer stations as well as other transfer stations to the south.
Each coupon is valid for up to $25 off one load and can only be used once. The limit is one coupon per household and only for the primary residence. Commercial property owners, vacant land owners, and multiple property owners of the same land are not eligible. Renters also are not eligible.
Once homeowners register, the Borough sends an email with a link to the coupon. The coupon can be printed or displayed on a mobile device to present to the attendant at the landfill or transfer station. Coupons will be valid until March 31, 2025.
Regular rates will apply for anything above the $25 coupon. Transfer station fees are currently $2 for a 33-gallon trash bag, but will increase to $3 beginning July 1. Residents can also bring scrap metal to the landfill and Talkeetna transfer station free of charge beginning July 1.
