The water plant is flushing the system out with chlorine; expect to see the hydrants discharging water. Flushing the hydrants is the fastest way to pull the chlorine through the system.
An independent testing lab will be up in the morning and will be testing the system and lagoon. Results are expected to be back within 24 hours. When those results are available KTNA will post them to the website, on Facebook, and on the radio. Until these independent results are in Borough officials are still recommending that water water for personal use should be boiled for 2 minutes.
Emergency Services had earlier made a statement that water in West, or Downtown Talkeetna had tested safe. They have since retracted that information and are waiting for confirmation from a 3rd party lab.
