Four members of the Talkeetna Curling Club are heading to Las Vegas this week to compete in national championships. Last month, Chris Bouch, Nate Bryan, Micah Morrow, and Brian Robison won a qualifying playdown against Palmer.
That victory won them a place in the 2025 Arena Club National Championships. This competition is for clubs who don’t have ice facilities dedicated to curling, so they share ice rinks with other sports. This is the first time an Alaskan team has competed at these national championships. This year, the Talkeetna team is the only one that plays on an outdoor hockey rink at home.
There is no ice available in the local area yet this fall, so the team has traveled to indoor curling facilities and hockey rinks in Fairbanks, Palmer, and Anchorage to practice in the last few weeks.
The championships run from October 14th through the 19th and the Talkeetna team is scheduled to play at least five times. Their first match is Tuesday evening at 7 pm Alaska time and can be live streamed on YouTube. You can find the link to the USA Curling channel and the times of all currently scheduled games here:
