The Alaska State Troopers and Talkeetna EMS responded to an early morning accident on the Parks Highway at milepost 91 of the Parks Highway.
The accident happened just before 7 a.m. Troopers say the accident involved two vehicles. Investigation showed that 58 year old Andy Wolski of Trapper Creek was driving North in a rental Subaru when he lost control of the vehicle and slid into the south bound lane and struck a vehicle driven by Colby Coombs of Talkeetna, who had 2 passengers and was driving a Ford Expedition. The passenger front of Wolski’s vehicle hit the rear passenger side of Coomb’s vehicle as they attempted to avoid each other.
Coombs said although the entire wheel came off the rear side of the truck and the vehicle landed on its side, the family is fine. They thank the kind Samaritan who sat with her car running so their 5 year old daughter could keep warm waiting for troopers to arrive and investigate the crash.
All individuals reported wearing their seatbelts and were not injured. Both vehicles were totaled. Wolski was issued a citation for speeding.
