The Mat Su Borough recently released the results of its annual phone survey of residents. The survey asked questions about public transportation and Borough news and information. The survey also asked people to rate the Borough government.
Seventy-five percent said things are going okay in the Mat Su Borough and twenty percent said things had gotten off on the wrong track. The Mat Su Borough government received a “C” rating from 40% of the people surveyed and 34% gave them a B rating.
Over 96% of the people surveyed do not ride public transportation. There was no clear answer given as to why respondents were not using public transportation. The Borough Assembly recently voted to support a regional transit authority promoting and overseeing various types of public transportation.
Survey responders said would like to be more informed on borough news and business. Sixty-eight percent of those interviewed said they would like to receive more information on the Borough.
A total of 405 residents were surveyed, 83% of respondents live in Wasilla or Palmer and 17% lived outside that area.
