The Mat-Su School District will be changing the COVID-19 status for all Mat-Su schools from “green” to “yellow”, beginning Monday.

According to the school district, the yellow status represents that transmission rates are low to moderate.  The Alaska Division of Health and Social Services has reported that positivity rates across Alaska have accelerated for the fourth record week in a row.  In response, the district will be restricting all school activities to increase mitigation strategies.

While school instruction and athletics will continue to take place at individual schools, no intra-district competitions will take place during this time.  The school district will revisit the district-wide status in mid-November.

The school district is asking families to support their efforts to keep schools open through social distancing, hand hygiene, and wearing masks.
