Mat-Su Borough to begin fourth round of small business, non-profit grants

Just as its third grant application cycle ends, the Mat-Su Borough is beginning its fourth and final planned distribution of CARES Act funds for small businesses and nonprofits.

The third application cycle ended Monday. The fourth begins on Tuesday and lasts through October 30th.  Small businesses and nonprofits that suffered financial loss due to the COVID-19 pandemic are eligible for up to $25,000 in grant funding.

Thus far, the borough has announced more than five million dollars in grants as part of the program, with about two hundred applications either pending or still under review.  In total, the borough set aside more then thirteen million dollars for the program.

The other grant program planned by the borough would give $100 to individuals to offset additional costs incurred during the pandemic, such as masks and cleaning supplies.  That program is scheduled to begin on October 26th, according to the borough’s CARES Act website.   The Mat-Su Borough plans to use that state’s Permanent Fund Dividend application database to verify borough residency.
