Mayor recommends Anderson for planning commission

Mayor Talis Colberg has recommended John Anderson of Willow to fill the position for District 7 area on the Borough’s Planning Commission.A number of people have applied for the position. One individual was voted down by the Borough Assembly last month in a heated debate on commission members.

Assemblyman Vern Halter says he was slightly disappointed that the mayor did not choose a representative from Meadow Lakes or a woman to fill the position, but speaks highly of Anderson.  Halter says he is a builder and long time Alaskan that is ‘top notch’.

The mayor’s current choice still has to go through the approval process.  A Borough Assembly vote is expected some time in March.
