Michael "mad dog" Kelly dies

originally aired 6/16 – Talkeetna emergency services responded to a 911 call last night  at the Talkeetna Historical Museum in downtown Talkeetna.  Michael Kelly, museum curator, collapsed and died last night, apparently of a stroke.

His wife, Glenda, had returned home after an evening walk and found him unconscious.  She immediately called for assistance.  Michael was flown by air ambulance to the hospital where he was on life support until Glenda could be with him. The friend that drove with Glenda to Anchorage says that the EMS response was phenomenal.

Kelly, a 10 year resident of both the Chase area and Talkeetna, was well known in music circles and was an accomplished musician.  Affectionately known as Mad Dog, he was a fixture at past Moose Dropping festivals.

Although he knew he had a terminal illness, the death was sudden and is a shock to those that knew him.

KTNA will announce any services when plans become known. (Glenda says there are plans for cremation, but not much else is known at this point)
