A collision claimed one life and closed the Parks Highway for six hours yesterday when a southbound minivan ran in to the rear of a school bus. According to Alaska State Trooper reports, the school bus was stopped with its warning lights activated when the minivan ran in to it. The 63-year-old driver of the minivan was not wearing a seatbelt and sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced on the scene. Fourteen students were aboard the bus, and one reported minor injuries.
In a separate incident, A motor vehicle slid through the stop sign at Powers Road into the Spur Road where it collided with an oncoming car. All parties were wearing seatbelts, and no injuries were reported, but damage is estimated at Five Thousand Dollars.
