A collision between four Harley-Davidson motorcycles and a Chevrolet Malibu resulted in injuries to three of the bikers, according to Alaska State Troopers.  The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon near mile post 257 on the Parks Highway.  The car was driven by Ashley Wensel of Anchorage.  Troopers say Wensel applied her brakes when the truck traveling in front of her slowed for a pavement break.  Behind her were six motorcycles.  Four of the bikes were unable to stop in time, and collided with Wensel’s vehicle.

The motorcycle drivers were identified by Troopers as Dale Leedom, Charlie Potter, and Mark Elliott, all from Fairbanks, and Randy Rocheleau of North Pole.  Rocheleau sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene of the accident.  Potter and Elliott were transported by EMS to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital.  Potter’s injuries are described by Troopers as serious,  but are not considered life threatening.

The Trooper report says none of the bikers were wearing helmets.  The driver and passengers of Wensel’s vehicle were wearing seatbelts and are unharmed.  The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
