Nelson trial delayed until June

According to Palmer court records, the pre-trial hearing and the trial of Jeremy Nelson of Trapper Creek has been reset for early June.

Nelson has been charged with first degree murder and assault with a weapon.  He is accused of killing Robert Carey of Trapper Creek and shooting Robert’s wife Verna.  The event occurred in late January.  Nelson was supposedly new to the Trapper Creek area and the Carey’s were not acquainted with the accused.  According to the prosecutor in the case, the attack was unprovoked.  Nelson pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Nelson is being held on 750 thousand dollars cash bail with a third party custodian requirement.  He is still incarcerated at Mat-su Pretrial.

The trial is currently scheduled for June 6th with a pre trial conference on May 27th.
